Introducing the Standard
Vintage Americana Meets the Touchstone Series
The Standard breathes new life into a classic design that has earned its reputation as the “workhorse” of acoustic guitars. Whether you’re a road warrior chasing smoky bar room vibes or a finger-style player seeking warmth and balance, The Standard delivers rugged dependability with an unmistakable aesthetic.
Drawing inspiration from the elegant body styles of the Depression era, The Touchstone Standard captures a sense of authenticity and vintage charm. This timeless design and spirit is beautifully evoked with our classic slope-shoulder dreadnought and L-DB body styles. Elegant throwback appointments make it a true homage to tradition.
The Standard’s torrefied Sitka spruce soundboard delivers a warm,
aged tone right out of the box, with dynamic response and clarity that
only deepens over time. A sound that’s as versatile as it is rich—perfect
for strumming, fingerpicking, and everything in between.
Paired with mahogany back and sides, the result is a balanced, versatile voice perfect for everything from gentle fingerpicking to robust strumming.
Every element of The Standard is crafted for comfort and performance, from its 14-fret mahogany neck to the Ziricote fingerboard and bridge, complete with high-gloss finish.
With Adirondack spruce bracing and Bourgeois’ signature attention to detail, The Standard is built to deliver a powerful, responsive sound that deepens and matures over time, while Schaller Grand Tune nickel tuners add vintage-inspired functionality.

Slope Shouldered and “square shouldered” Dreadnoughts co-evolved from divergent lines of guitar DNA. Curvier and ever so slightly wider and deeper than its counterpart, the Slope D’s most important structural distinction lies in its short, 25” scale length. Long favored by country musicians – and additionally popular with a variety of American roots stylists – the Slope D is widely regarded as a superb choice for vocal accompaniment. And while also a fine flatpicking guitar, the Slope Shouldered species is usually considered a fingerpickers’ Dreadnought-of-choice.
